The fact that you have two CFI’s in this airplane cruising around explaining on the internet the concept of steep spiral and can’t even explain the description right is shocking to me .

I don’t even know where to begin . I’ve been watching videos about this school.. and yikes is all I have to say. The “student” for one is on autopilot. For god sakes turn it off and get some experience. Use autopilot @ the airlines. Not for training. To make it even worse, we’re doing clearing turns with autopilot. Btw a clearing turn mrs cfi is not two 90 degree turns. Telling your student that is ridiculous because now all they care about is the turn instead of looking outside which is the whole point of a clearing turn. The FAA says clear the area, there’s no procedure that requires a turn let alone 90 degrees either direction. (I understand turning is safe, but come on) just telling them to turn does nothing. Tell them to turn, look outside and verbally look for towers, traffic, birds, a ufo , anything. That “checklist” almost put me to sleep and has no flow. Standardized that better. I’m sorry I wanted to let this go but I can’t , especially if it’s on the internet to promote your school.

Love the meta geekery of a video about a videographer going up. wtfs: Cessnam? And no headset?

    • @ThrustFlight

Thanks! We wanted to try a bit of a storytelling and gave Zachary the go ahead on this one. He liked the meta/vlog approach with the attempt cross videography and aviation. Fixed the Cessna typo 😅 The headset was a missed opportunity and a sacrifice during a time crunch, but we're glad we got Zachary in the air.

Since nearly half of all general aviation pilots are instrument rated, then why do only 15% maintain IFR currency? If they end up flying VFR...was all that IFR training really worth it?

When I went to college, parts were hard to find for our aircraft at the time and we only had about 4 of our 30 planes up and running. I took the 5am flight block and ran through that program. Just bite the bullet and get in as early as possible. The early bird gets the worm saying is no joke. Also my 141 school stopped training at “Com D” if you didn’t have your CAX Written done. You’ll stress like I did when I was trying to enroll and they said I couldn’t because of no written completion.

60deg of bank in a LEVEL turn requires 2gs and increases stall speed. In a descending turn, you're still at 1g and no stall speed increase. Stall speed increases with load factor, not bank angle.
